At Sacred Heart parish we attended the 9:00 AM Mass and I prayed for all the little children being bombed in Syria and children everywhere who hunger for nurturing and food. For our brave soldiers who fight evil to protect our country and for all with special needs and intentions.
After making small offerings to Jesus and Mary, I made an Act of Contrition and received the sacred body and blood of Jesus Christ through the sacrament of Holy Communion. On my knees, I gave thanks to God for all His many blessings upon myself and my entire family and prayed that He never stop guiding and encouraging me to become a better person.
Then I prayed: “Speak Lord (only and always if it be His will), Your servant listens.” Jesus responded to my prayers with the following message for all of us:
“My child Eileen, Look up to the heavens, for today is a new day. Each day is an opportunity for change, for the soul never dies! Yet truly I tell you that change begins in the heart. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. Continue to pray for your brothers and sisters. Amen.”
Note: It was good to hear Jesus mention the heart as we often hear about our soul and many of us live day to day trying to deal with our thoughts. The heart has many memory cells as researchers discovered after a young man who lost his life in a motorcycle accident and had a fond love for chicken wings and beer showed us. This became apparent when the transplant recipient of that heart discovered when he suddenly began drinking beer and craving chicken wings. These cravings were new to him as he had never really liked beer previously! Perhaps if we chose to foster only good thoughts, we can not only change ourselves, but others too as well?
