Steve Shawl of the Medjugorje Web wrote the following helpful commentary on this term’s usage in the present message of Our Lady: “Darnel is not a person. It is not satan, and it is not a typographical error. Darnel is a weed that is known as the “mimic weed”. It is poisonous and can kill a person if ingested. It looks like wheat and it is difficult to tell the difference between the two in the field. We can see there is a lot of confusion in the world. Many thoughts, ideas, and actions are promoted as good (wheat), when in fact they are Darnel, and from the evil one. Our Lady is again asking us to be the light, and love to those around us in these times.”
